George has more than 39 years of public accounting experience. He provides a variety of tax services to individuals, s-corporations, regular corporations, limited liability companies, non-profits and estates and trusts including year-end tax planning. George is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a Chartered Global Management Accountant® (CGMA®).
Prior to joining George W. Smith & Company, P.C. (GWSC) in 1986 George worked in the Lansing office of Ernst & Whinney. He joined Andrews Hooper Pavlik PLC (AHP) in 2020 when GWSC merged with AHP.
George graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Art degree in Accounting.
George is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). He is a member of the Detroit Goodfellows/Old Newsboys, serves as treasurer on the board of directors for Meghan’s Army. George is a tax advisor for local newsprint, television, as well as an Income Tax chapter writer for World Almanac.
