Kara has more than 18 years of public accounting experience serving the Upper Peninsula. She is a partner in the Marquette office, formerly Makela, Toutant, Hill, Nardi & Katona, P.C. (MTHNK). Kara is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and specializes in taxation and planning for individuals, trusts, and estates.
Kara joined MTHNK (then Makela, Toutant, Hill & Nardi, P.C.) in 2005. She was promoted to senior accountant, manager, then senior manager before earning her position as a partner in MTHNK in 2018. Kara joined AHP when it merged with MTHNK.
Kara graduated summa cum laude from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting/computer information systems.
Kara is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). She is currently the Secretary/Treasurer for the Board of Directors for the Superior Health Foundation and is a member of the Economic Club of Marquette County. Kara previously served on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Marquette County.
